Discovering Snapshot offer

Hello,

I recently discovered Zrythm, and I’m impressed by its potential as a promising DAW. While exploring its features, I noticed the existence of a version called “Snapshot.” Initially, I thought it referred to the integration of snapshots in the technical sense, allowing users to save and recall precise parameter configurations. Unfortunately, it seems that this term simply refers to a licensing tier and is unrelated to the functionality I had in mind.

Snapshots, as I use them in Ableton Live with tools like ClyphX, are parameter states that let you capture the exact configuration of settings at a given moment. These include the ability to instantly recall these states or create smooth transitions between them through morphing. Morphing, to clarify, involves progressively interpolating between two parameter configurations, enabling rich and dynamic sonic transitions.

Beyond the technical aspects, morphing and snapshots have an incredibly powerful role in musical creation. They allow users to move past complex technical constraints. For instance, with tools like ClyphX, you can create snapshots and morph between them seamlessly without needing to program detailed automations for each parameter. This opens up a significant creative space while drastically reducing the technical overhead. Currently, musicians working with DAWs often need to balance advanced technical skills with their creative instincts, but this balance frequently skews too heavily towards the technical side.

These tools provide immense creative flexibility for musical composition, dynamic management, and sound exploration. Yet, to my knowledge, such features are absent in most DAWs like Cubase or Pro Tools, remaining underestimated and underdeveloped. Only Ableton Live offers a partial implementation via Macro Variations, which remains limited.

I believe integrating such functionality into Zrythm could represent a major step forward—not only to enhance the user experience but also to position Zrythm as an innovative choice in the DAW market. It would also help refocus the use of DAWs on creativity, making tools more intuitive and less technically demanding.

P.S :I sincerely congratulate the Zrythm team on the release of version 1.0. I wish the software continued success and all the recognition it deserves for its innovation and potential.

This sounds like a great feature. I created an issue to track this: Snapshot functionality (from Ableton) (#5124) · Issues · Zrythm / zrythm · GitLab

Oh, thank you for taking the time to respond and for considering this as a feature request! I would be truly delighted if this feature could become a part of ZRythm. I wish you all the best and will be following the development of this promising and exciting DAW closely.
