Font contrast - barely readable (PopOS)

I’ve installed first via the installer from the website and now as flatpack on PopOS.
Both methods show the UI with barely readable text due to lack of contrast to its background.
I’ve tried to fiddle around with the css file (got some background lighter, as can be seen on the left of the screenshot). But i did not figure out what to change to get most fonts readable.
Especially the right side of the screenshot shows the issue with text barely readable:

Any suggestions on how i can fix it?

I’m guessing you have GTK themes or something installed globally? Or GTK-related environment variables that change color schemes/themes?

Btw note that v1 is abandoned as we are focusing on v2.

about the GTK theme, not that i know of. I just went through the standard installation of popOS without any changes.

I’ve downloaded v2 and the fonts are all good there. I’ll stick to v2 then. thanks!
