Is it possible to get more explicit instructions for Linux install?

Apologies for very basic install questions, I am fairly new to Linux. I am running linux mint. I have managed to get this installed, at least getting success message but have no idea how to launch zrythm. So this is what I did:

  1. Download zrythm-trial-1.0.0.beta.6.7.1-installer.zip into /Downloads
  2. Extract to /Downloads/zrythm-trial-1.0.0.beta.6.7.1-installer
  3. browse to folder, run install.sh in terminal
  4. click yes to install program
  5. install successful.

Looks like it installed successfully… but I have know idea how to open/access the program from here.

Where did I go wrong, what I am missing?

Maybe your desktop environment needs a restart to apply the changes. Can you please try running xdg-desktop-menu forceupdate --mode system in a terminal and checking your programs menu again?

Also the installer should probably use xdg-desktop-menu too (it currently doesn’t)… I will make it use that in the next release.

I will also edit the “install success” message to say how you can launch Zrythm.

Hi thanks & thanks so much, this kinda worked… but

Running the command xdg-desktop-menu forceupdate --mode system put zrhythm beta in the system menu. Clicking it, I got the above screenshot, unfortunately, there is no way to advance the screen - I can’t scroll, arrow key, or tab further, though there are the four dots below that imply I could.

Am I missing something?

Sorry, another thing I wanted to add…

I did try the flatpak yesterday - it installed, got into the menu, but didn’t launch. I uninstalled it. Is there some to try get it to work, if the above installer doesn’t work?

That is a problem. You should be perform to do those actions. Can you try clicking and dragging the screen towards the left to make it progress? If you aren’t able to get mouse/keyboard input there can you please record a screencast showing you launching Zrythm and attempting to navigate this carousel?

What menu? Can you try running it from the command line and copy-pasting the output here?

flatpak run org.zrythm.Zrythm should launch it.

I have a screencast recorded, but can’t upload here (only images?). Can I share that with some other way?

This has been resolved now. This is how to make it proceed: click and drag the center of that screen to the left (like you would swipe on your phone)

I have also just added navigation buttons to go to the previous/next page. They will be available next release.
