Really bad FPS in the UI

Hi, I purchased the Zrhythm bundle about 4 years ago while it was in alpha. Back then, it was just too unfinished and buggy, so I decided to try it again now.

This is kind of another issue, but upon installing it and starting it up, I created the demo project, and it took FOREVER to load. Actually, I didn’t realize it was loading, I thought it just crashed because it just vanished. But I brought up my system monitor (basically task manager) and saw the process was still running and increasing in memory usage, so I let it keep running, and it finally loaded up the demo project. So, you need something on screen to show it’s still running and it’s still loading. That’s a really bad user experience to make them think it crashed.

Anyways, when it finally got loaded, the UI was SOOOO laggy. Like 10 FPS laggy. I did notice that if I zoomed in on the tracks, then the FPS improved a bit, and I also noticed that when I had the mixing console showing, then the FPS got WAY worse. Is this normal? It’s practically unusable.

My system is running EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma. I have an Intel i5 8400F and an Nvidia 2080 Super.

There’s another issue too, which is seemingly unstoppable LOUD white noise after hitting the Stop playback button. When I hit play, it goes away. When I hit stop, then it’s PSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Anyways, I know I may be giving some harsh criticism and issues, but I really do appreciate all the work put into this and the fact that it’s open source. I also just tried the v2 build you put out on the forum, and it runs SOOOOO much smoother, AND looks better (even though I know the UI and features aren’t there yet). Qt is the way to go. GTK can suck my ****. And so can Redhat and Wayland for that matter.

Thanks for supporting Zrythm. Your issues are/will be addressed in v2. Good to hear it runs smoother even at this stage.
