Zrythm awarded NGI Zero Commons Fund grant by NLnet

We’re excited to announce that Zrythm has been selected for a grant from the NGI Zero Commons Fund, supported by NLnet and the European Commission.

The grant was awarded as part of the ninth open call of the NGI Zero Commons Fund, which supports libre projects that contribute to the digital commons. 57 projects were selected in this round across categories including trustworthy hardware, network
infrastructure, operating systems, and end-user applications.

What this means for Zrythm

This grant will accelerate development toward Zrythm v2. Building on everything we learned from the v1 release, the focus will, among other things, be on porting core functionality to the new Qt/QML stack:

  • Audio and MIDI recording
  • Arranger editing
  • Chord assistance

The goal remains the same: a stable, mature, libre alternative to proprietary DAWs that gives musicians and producers the freedom to study, modify, and share their creative tools.

About the NGI Zero Commons Fund

The NGI Zero Commons Fund provides grants to people and organizations who help build the digital commons. All supported projects are free/libre software, meaning their outcomes can be freely used, studied, shared, and improved by anyone. NGI Zero is a coalition of non-profit
organizations led by NLnet, made possible with financial support from the European Commission.
